2022 was a great year for TV shows as quite a few made a return while some sustained their relevance. 2023 has kicked off to a great start with shows like Big Brother Titans (BBTitans) already airing as early as January and would run until March.

All around the country, television plays a major role in entertaining Nigerians, however, many of our favourite TV shows get a lot of their appeal from the hosts who later become synonymous with the programs.

An example of such a case is Frank Edoho and the show, “Who Wants To Become A Millionaire”, another is Do2dtun and the Sound City Countdown.

However, as much as these guys entertain us, we would also love to know how much they make and who at the moment is the most famous.

1. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu is a Nigerian lawyer and a famous TV personality. He is best known for his hosting services for the biggest Nigerian reality TV show; Big Brother Naija.

He is also the host of Rubbin’ Minds, a talk show aired on Channels Television and The Spot and Men’s Corner on Ebonylife TV.

Ebuka is famous for his unique fashion style, panache and style that he constantly serves while on the BBNaija show.

The 40-year-old, who is married with two children, is also famed for his strong questioning style and suspense-filled tone of presenting.

Ebuka has won the hearts of many Nigerians and other Africans alike, especially for the constant masterpiece that he always delivers on the BBNaija.

Obi-Uchendu is at the moment the most popular Nigerian show host, and he is currently believed to be worth $10m according to Carmart.

2. Frank Edoho:

Frank Edoho is a TV host, filmmaker and photographer. He is the anchor of the longest-running TV show in Nigeria, “Who Wants To Be a Millionaire”.

He has anchored other shows, but Who Wants To Be a Millionaire has certainly overshadowed the rest, with his commanding calm and also suspenseful display towards the contestants.

Frank was born in Kano, he is married to Sandra Onyenaucheya. They are happily married with five children.

Edoho at the heights of WWTBM is believed to have earned a million naira every month from the show. He is still regarded by many as one of the finest the country has ever seen.

3. IK Osakioduwa

IK Osakioduwa is a radio and TV show presenter who has been in the industry for well over 21 years now.

He used to be called Wild child, but after his marriage in 2008, he stuck to being called IK.

The former reality TV host is well known for his work as the anchor of the show Big Brother Africa in 2003 as well as numerous series of the Silverbird and Flytime show Rhythm Unplugged.

He was also the presenter of The Voice Nigeria (2017) to date and also previous editions of Nigerian Idol.

IK is the managing director of Lite FM Lagos (95.5) and has also won the prestigious award for African Broadcaster of the Year (Male). Osakioduwa is happily married and has two children.

4. Bisola Aiyeola

Bisola Aiyeola is a Nigerian actress, singer and TV personality. Born in London, England in 1986, she came back to Nigeria and spent most of her adult and teen years in Lagos.

She was the runner-up in the 2017 edition of Big Brother Naija. In 2018, Aiyeola won the AMVCA Trailblazer Award as she was now very popular courtesy of the BBN show.

She has hosted many TV shows, the most famous including Flawsome, Skinny Girl in Transit, and The Life of a Nigerian Couple, to name a few.

However, Aiyeola’s most famous TV program at the moment is the new television game show, ‘Family Feud.’

Aiyeola is known for her charity work for women and children, and has two children herself.

5. Do2dtun

Oladotun Kayode better known as Do2dtun is a Nigerian on-air personality who is very popular on radio and TV. His show on Cool FM the Midday Oasis is arguably his most famous showpiece.

He has also been into TV presenting, hosting Soundcity’s Greatest Countdown on Earth Radio Show, which has garnered millions of viewers and listeners around the globe.

He was born in Lagos and attended the State University (LASU)where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. Do2dtun has also anchored events and gala nights on several occasions.

6. Osas Ighodaro:

Osas Martha Ighodaro is a Nigerian American actress, model and TV host who shot to the limelight in 2010 for winning the Miss Black USA pageant. She was born in the Bronx to Nigerian parents. The screen beauty co-hosted the 2014 AMVCA.

The screen diva graduated from Penn State University with a degree in broadcasting journalism. She most recently was the host of Kizz Daniel’s show in December.

Osas also gained popularity in Nigeria when she became the host of Maltina Dance All from 2013-2015. Furthermore, she has acted in numerous movies in the last couple of years, notably The Smart Money Woman (2019).

7. Joseph Benjamin:

Joseph Benjamin is most famous for anchoring MTN’s Project Fame for about five years. Benjamin has also hosted other numerous shows and shot into the limelight in the early 2000s.

Benjamin won the Nollywood Award for Best Actor in a Lead Role, making him rise to become a renowned actor and screen personality. His highlight movies include Tango With Me, Mr & Mrs and Murder at Prime Suites.

He is married to Ebube Nwagbo and they have five children.

Cynthia, Wife of the BBNaija show host discloses, fans react

Meanwhile, Legit.ng recalls reporting that ace TV presenter and show host Ebuka Obi-Uchendu has recently shown what it means to be a proper professional to the core.

Cynthia Obi-Uchendu, Ebuka’s wife, in a series of tweets, hailed her husband for his conviction and determination to always get the job done.

She revealed that during the recent BBTitan premiere her husband was extremely ill but instead of taking a break he still found a way to get on stage and his job.

A 30-year-old lady has stirred reactions online after undergoing surgery to tie her fallopian tube.

The woman said in a social media video that she got the procedure because she didn’t want to become pregnant and deal with the physical and emotional scars that would result.

She wrote;

“Finally got my tubes tied!!!
Firmly in my childfree era. So proud of myself of taking control of my life and eliminating pregnancy scares and @borshun from my future🎀”

In other news, Popular Nollywood actress, Sandra Okunzuwa, shared a painful experience that made her despise men for a long time.

In a recent interview with The Sun, the screen diva discussed her traumatic experiences with men and how she overcame the trauma.

She said the experience made her hate men for a while, but she has now healed and moved on.

“Sexually abused as a kid? Yes. Mental health victim? Yes. In the society we live in, people don’t talk about mental health issues; they expect you to visit your pastor and you will be alright. As an actor, it is not easy. First, you will have to embody the life of different characters and personalities, the good, the bad and the terrible.

Despite what you are going through personally, you have to wear a smile and keep entertaining people because that is what people expect from you. I think there should be a special therapist for entertainers, because it is not easy. Giving out joy to people and lacking where to fill up from. Most people are broken; they’re carrying about baggage from the past, if you don’t talk about it so you can get help, you will keep carrying it about until it destroys you. By sharing your problems with your partner, you can get help.

Lastly, being traumatized isn’t a spiritual issue; it is a mental issue that needs a therapist. I will get married to my perfect partner someday. Before, it (the sexual abuse) kind of made me resent men, but I have healed from it and moved on. I am a lot better now.” She said.

Controversial Nollywood actor, Uche Maduagwu, has criticized his colleagues, Nancy Isime and Peter Okoye for their roles in the trending Netflix series, Shantytown.

Taking to his Instagram account he shared a video querying the need for Nancy Isime’s nudity and why Peter Okoye, a singer was given a movie role.

According to him, the entire production of the movie was sub par and not worth the hype.

In his words;

“So after all the Hype on Shanty Town, I finally sat down to #watch and I was so confused, it was a glorified ASABA movie, the story line was so uninteresting and a little bit more like our regular ASABA movie, only difference was it super high quality cinematography and advanced better production.
When exactly did Peter of PSQUARE turn Actor? Nancy showing unnecessary body is more confusing, Walahi some #Yoruba movies have better story line than this, Na all Hype, and this is why E go TEY before Nollywood go smell OSCAR #Awards because we not ready to be extraordinary in our story telling, imagine in 2023, we are bringing out this?
